My friends and neighbours,

It’s a sad day here at Jim Heskett HQ. Earlier today, my web host shut me down for a while for violating the terms of service. Website off. No jimheskett.com for you.

What? you say.

Yes, excellent question. Of course, I had to immediately wonder if I had accidentally uploaded gigs of illegal porn to the site, but I’m pretty sure I would remember doing that.

No, this was much more sinister.

Earlier this week, a spam bot decided that my website was yummy and flooded it with over 200,000 spam comments. I hadn’t checked the spam all week, because I wasn’t expecting a quarter of a damn million comments to be in there.

Evil SpamBot Jerk Face

My web host gave me the axe, even though it wasn’t my fault.

Anyway, I’ll get to the point. In order to restart things, they deleted all the comments, even the non-spam ones. I don’t even know how many legit comments were in there, but it was years’ worth. I’d imported all the old comments from the old Blogspot site.

Gone.

So, goodbye to old comments. Since I’ve got a fresh start, I’m going to eliminate comments altogether, because… I’m lazy. Moderating comments takes time I don’t have. If you want to holler at me, see my contact page.

We’ll walk into this new day together.
